Details:
An accomplished musician from Co. Waterford, Ireland, Ormy grew up among musicians such as guitarist Donal Clancy, piper David Power and members of the Irish traditional group, Danu. He played folk and blues for many years and later became involved in genres as diverse as rock, jazz and experimental music.
Ormy has performed extensively in Europe and America both as a solo artist and as part of a variety of bands. âThe songs on this album have travelled through life with me like dear friends,â he says, âI found them in all sorts of places between the docks of Dungarvan and the live oaks of Luckenbach. I love singing them, they entice such beautifully vivid dreams to my mind as their stories unfold.â
Prepare to be intrigued by the dark tale of "The Outlandish Knight", enraptured by the bluesy "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed And Burning" and seduced by a fine rendition of "Matt Hyland", hailed by Liam Clancy as the best version heâd ever heard.
