KIM WILLIAMS BIOGRAPHY
Kim Williams grew up on a small farm near Rogersville, Tennessee. He was the forth of eight children born to music-loving parents. He learned to play guitar early on and later played in bands from Chicago, Illinois to Deming, New Mexico.
The songwriting bug first bit him when he was eleven years old and heâs been writing songs ever since, in 1984 he made his first trip to Nashville to pursue a career in music. He spent the next five years learning the songwriting craft and working with several small publishing firms. Kim got his first taste of success with cuts on independent labels by Stonewall Jackson, Bobby G. Rice and others. In 1989 Kim signed a five year contract to write for Don Lanier and Tree International.
In the past 19 years Kim has had the number one singles If The Devil Danced In Empty Pockets by Joe Diffie, Papa Loved Mama, Itâs Midnight Cinderella, Ainât Going Down âTil The Sun Comes Up and Sheâs Gonna Make It by Garth Brooks, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Reba McEntire, Who Needs You Baby by Clay Walker, andThree Wooden Crosses by Randy Travis which was #1 in both Country and Christian genres and winner of the CMA, CCMA, GMA, NSAI, and ACM song of the year and the album Rise And Shine won the Grammy. (âThree Wooden Crossesâ is now being turned into a movie by Marcie Gold the producer/director of âTouched By An Angelâ). Kim has had Christian #1âs with One Perfect Son and A Little Bit Of Faith by Jeff Silvey. He has also had hit singles with the songs Goodnight Sweetheart by David Kersh, Not Enough Hours In The Night by Doug Supernaw, Fall In Love by Kenny Chesney, Warning Labels by Doug Stone, She Loved A lot In Her Time by George Jones, Light At The End Of The Tunnel by B.B. His song âSeven Sundays In A Rowâ, cut by Blue Highway became a #1 bluegrass song and was nominated for "Bluegrass Song Of The Yearâ in 2006. Kim was nominated again for bluegrass song of the year in 2007 on a song written with his brother Larry Williams, and friend Larry Shell. The song is titled âThe Last Suit You Wearâ and is a powerful ballad sung by Larry Sparks and became a #1 bluegrass song.
The Gaither Vocal Band has cut several of Kim's songs and recently
cut âLove Can Turn The Worldâ, for itâs new African Video Project.
Kimâs song Three Wooden Crosses is currently being made into
a theatre based movie by Marcie Gold, the producer of the great T.V.
series âTouched By An Angelâ. His song âCajun Bloodâ is being turned
into a book and possible future movie.

He now splits his time between Nashville and his East Tennessee cabin on top of Clinch Mountain that he calls home. He enjoys the company of his wife Phyllis and his twin grandchildren Lily and Noah. He is also excitedly watching the career of his talented singer/songwriter daughter Amanda, a Berklee School of Music Grad, with whom he wrote the Grammy nominated Beer Run, a duet with George Jones and Garth Brooks.
