Jack Wiard (clarinet, soprano saxophone) hails from Lodi, California and studied and played in San Francisco for a few years, but has lived in Sydney since 1972. His vast experience in music includes playing with Pops Foster, Joe Sullivan, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis and various Kid Ory and Turk Murphy alumni, but in Australia Jack is best known for his for his 30-year association with the Graeme Bell All-Stars. This band was originally formed to play material in the West Coast Revival style ( eg. Lu Watters, Turk Murphy, etc. ) but given the versatility of the players, it was inevitable the repertoire should broaden to include Bix, Louis Armstrong Hot 5 & 7, Jelly Roll Morton, early Ellington, etc.
