Details:
Singer. Producer. Lyricist. Pianist. Percussionist. No this is not the line-up for a show you have seen before, these are some of the talents Malachi Heights possesses with great humility. No show will bring you in with more anticipation and leave you with total admiration.
His history simply goes as this . . .
Born in Albany, Georgia into a family of evangelists, he quickly and sometimes, unwillingly, learned to play instruments. Both his parents, sisters, brothers, even aunts and uncles, knew how to sing and that same great gift never passed Heights by. Later on in his teenage life though, his mother would notice that Heights was very unique -- he would lead the choir, play the drums, and be on the piano-- all before his father took the podium for his sermon. At the time, doing this was just fun and it felt great to be needed -- especially when his other older brothers were also musically talented. No doubt his mother loved all her children, but after discussing with his father what she observed, she began to teach Heights fully how gifts will leave if you do not nurture them, ALL OF THEM.
After that talk along with many others, Heights started out writing in a composition book he still holds on to until this day. He wrote gospel songs, lyrical songs, R&B songs, and as eerie as it sounds, even some rock songs. His mother always taught him with sayings like, âBe yourself and if the music touches you, never be afraid to touch it back -- no matter how people judge or scorn youâ.
This is all the motivation Heights would need before taking a stage outside the church. He would go on to perform in all his high school talent shows, local music competitions, clubs, and numerous weddings. At each venue, heâd show a different gift that no one expected -- which would unexpectedly lead him to a different venue.
âTomorrow is never promised, so today, I gotta show âem what Iâve got,â was a saying Malachi Heights always spoke to himself before going on any stage. He worked with a number of local artists and producers in Albany, Georgia -- like No Gud, Big Nod, Juice, Monte Carlo, and Arvon to name a few. This gave him a great amount of fans and even radio play with rapper No Gudâs single, âBaddest Thingâ, but he knew he needed to obtain a name on his own. After trying different avenues, he decided to move to Virginia where he began working on a solo project.
Let their be no mistake, Malachi Heights is talented and what he offers to the world is a dish not many can create -- VARIETY. When you hear what this young man has to offer and understand how truly blessed he is, you will understand why he calls himself "The True Entertainer".
