Details:
Milktooth materialized as a natural extension of tremendous change. The bandâs frontman David Condos had spent the prior three years in Nashville, TN and on the road building his career as a singer-songwriter. He self-released his debut album, Smoking City, in 2006 and spent 2007 in venues from Omaha to Orlando with his newly assembled backing band. After two years of performing with a solidified line-up, band members Ian Leach, Noah Denney, and Michael Ford Jr. had become integral parts of the songwriting and arranging process. In 2008, they recorded a new digital EP under the David Condos moniker, but it was clear that the music had begun to take a new shape. Over the course of the next six months, Condos and band noticed their new songs morphing from the radio-friendly pop/rock of his debut into something quite different. That something became Milktooth.
Taking new cues from enigmatic visionaries like Nick Cave and Kevin Shields, the band represents an exciting departure from what the world knows of David Condos but, at the same time, draws heavily upon Condosâ strengths as a dynamic, cerebral songwriter with an impassioned soulful voice. Recorded using a 16-track analog tape machine thatâs older than the band members, Milktoothâs debut self-titled EP is slated for release this June. It was produced in Nashville, TN by their long-time friend Tom Laune (R.E.M., Big Star) and mastered in Montreal, QC by Harris Newman (Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs).
"Milktooth's debut album is a dynamic inaugural effort...a candid record with wide accessibility and appeal. Precise musical arrangements cast the howling vocals in a feral hue lending them a candor which punctuates each song with lyrical depth. Sonorous guitar tone, percussive whacks and memorable songwriting combine to make this Nashville band one to keep your finger on."

â[a] hazy resemblance to bands like Radiohead and early Modest Mouse, with all the right attributes in their favor.â
