Some say the music industry lacks the depth it once had. Although a plethora of new artists continue to emerge, only few are able to capture the true essence of what music should be; art. While most modern day artists rely on good beats and club trojans to increase sales, one can only ask; What about the lyrical content? Thatâs where Mike Anthony (formerly known as "Yung MoFo") comes in. In an industry where songs are either uninspired club bangers, or lyrically influential masterpieces, Mike aims to satisfy both subdivisions of the Hip-Hop genre.

Mike Anthonyâs alternative Hip-Hop/R&B style is able to exceptionally satisfy individuals who want either good beats, lyrical-savvy songs, or both. Mike creates an aesthetic, distinct sound with beats that are usually laid back, yet up-tempo. While the depth of his music is comparable to Kanye West, his voice is often comparable to Baby Bash, and T-Pain (possibly for the fact that he occasionally uses Auto-Tune). On strictly a musical perspective, Mike Anthony often produces rap-esque vocals or sings over orchestrated beats that you would usually only hear in alternative genres. The combination of strong lyrical content (which can sometimes be witty), and great beats have paid off for Mike Anthony. Mike released his debut single Canât Play Me in the Summer of 2008 on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, and all other major digital retailers. While Canât Play Me failed to get a fair amount of radio airplay (despite the fact that it debuted on Portlandâs 1 Radio Morning Show The PlayHouse on Jammin 107.5), the song got praise from musical critics and Mikeâs listeners.

Mike Anthony is currently working on his debut album One Track Mind (tentatively scheduled for a Q4 release), and will be releasing his second single Merry-Go-Round this March. While simultaneously producing his own album, Mike is also working on a five song EP for female pop group INFINI3. Mike will also appear on a number of guest spots such as Aytchâs Obsession, and INFINI3âs Iâm Just Stuntinâ. Aside from featured guest spots on other peopleâs songs, Mike Anthony won Jammin 107.5âs rap jingle contest, and got his radio commercial aired for 2 ½ months. Mikeâs winning jingle was chosen by the stationâs listeners (who voted in a week long poll between Mike and another finalist on the stationâs website), and the Mattress World staff--the company in which Mike wrote the jingle for. Winning gave him a minor boost, and helped him gain more exposure which would hopefully lead more people to his music.
