Driving rock music is the essence of Mercury Crossingâs third release, Red July. Consisting of six songs, Red July includes the âbest of the bestâ of their new material since their sophomore album Social Graces Set Aside.
Kicking off the disc with Canât Get Over It, the disc overflows with thick guitars, solid drum grooves and sing-along vocal lines. Sheri Roloff truly breaks the mold of having a stereotypical female singer in a rock band - she not only fronts the band with her vocals, but also lays down the only guitar track with a tenacity that leaves no one in the audience wondering about the legitimacy of her musicianship.
The last track, Egg Shells, was actually on Mercury Crossingâs first album Human Aquarium, but was reinvented on guitar for Red July. Egg Shells is now a staple in their live sets, often being played as their closing song.
