Ukelilli was born in suburban Maryland (birth name Lillian Parker). It would be useless to tell you the name of the town, as it shares itâs name with a popular 1970âs comedian, and no one ever believes that itâs actually the name of her town, and that, furthermore, the town was named that BEFORE the famous person was. Also, it was named after a town in Northern England AND there is a known etymology of the name of the townâ¦. But I digress.

Since as early as she can remember, she played an instrument of one sort or another, be it the piano, the clarinet, the trumpet, the guitar, or one of many others. At the age of 17, she had brain surgery and awoke unable to move her legs and unable to speak. On a whim, her mother brought in her ukulele, the one instrument that she could play in a hospital, without disturbing the rest of the floor. Miraculously, when she played, she could not only sing, but dance too! After a year, she got all of her speech and movement back, but that year with her uke made the two of them inseparable.

Thus begun a whole new chapter in the life of Ukelilli (for example, changing her name to Ukelilli). She moved to New York, took her shows to the subways, busking for fans who found her adorable.

One fan successfully solicited her music for use as the soundtrack to the "Intern Journal" extra on THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU DVD. Another used her talents to build a soundtrack to his award winning short, CRACKS. Additionally, Zappos internet campaign uses her music for some of their shorts. And Simon Pegg and Eddie Izzard have sent personal praises!

Ukelilli now lives in LA and tries to balance her love of ukinâ with her love of movies. She is currently hard at work on a film about the birth of Ukelilli.
