Details:
Let me give you a very brief description of who I am and where I've been in music and in life.
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am just an average guy. At age 11 I was blown away by the Beatles premier on the Ed Sullivan Show. I absolutely knew then and there that I wanted to sing and play guitar.
When I was 14 I had my first paid gig. In the 1970's I toured the Midwest as a singer and lead guitarist, playing bars and colleges. About 1980, I had a spiritual awakening and wanted to incorporate music with positive attitude ideas.
In 1994 I studied songwriting in Nashville, Tennessee and embraced the Rockabilly sound. In the fall of that same year I recorded my "THE ROAD OF LIFE" CD of all original music and showcased for the major labels in Nashville.
After placing my major label rejection notices in my scrapbook, I realized that I could do my own thing without having to worry about fitting into a certain musical genre.
In 1996 I recorded my "LOVE POWER" CD. It was then that I created my Self Worth Music empowerment videos with a simple home video camera.
In 1998 I had a crisis of religious faith and explored my Catholic/Christian roots. The CDs, "GOD'S MERCY" and "The Rock Version of the CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY" were the result.
Not being fully able to reconcile the conflicting beliefs and dogmas of all the major religions, I decided, that for me, God is absolute love and mercy. I therefore let go of my need to strictly follow any particular religious path or belief system other than basic Christian principles.
Today, with the creation of the internet, CD Baby, Hostbaby, YouTube and other internet media, I can now take my God-given music and videos worldwide.
Thank you again for visiting my site. Enjoy!
Peace and blessings,
John C. Smith
