Time â what really is it? We measure its passing with calendars and clocks and yet we cannot hold it still in order to examine it closely. Some view time as a fourth dimension which can be traveled through backwards and forwards. Others consider it to be a structure similar to numbers and as such is not a thing and therefore cannot be traveled. Whatever your view it is truly awe inspiring to look up at the night sky and see distant stars. In many cases this light has taken millions of light years to reach our earth, so long in fact that the original source of that light may not even exist anymore. In a very literal sense then, you are looking back into the past. You havenât traveled back in time but the past has traveled to you. Our memories too allow us a fleeting escape from the present into the past, a childhood experience, a song, a voice or a scent. The gift of imagination allows us to at least speculate what the future may be like. Music cannot explain these phenomenons but it does have the unique ability to communicate ideas. These are some of the metaphors I have endeavored to explore through this album.

Jason Boyd is a composer and pianist who writes in many different styles. He studied at Sussex university and the Guildhall school of music and drama. He is based in the south of England.
