BLUES: Electric Blues, BLUES: Rockin' Blues

Details:
Brian Brickeen began his musical career on the drum set, playing throughout the midwest with a variety of bands from rock and country to gospel to blues and jazz. His first exposure to Stevie Ray Vaughn awakened a passion for electric blues guitar, an instrument he then pursued in every spare moment. From SRV he then began studying and absorbing the work of other great blues artists such as Albert King, BB King, Son Seals, and Robben Ford as well as cross over artists such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.

In 1996 he joined with Lawrence Wright in Kansas City, a former band member of Albert Collins and a midwest regional artist reknowned for his mastery of blues organ and piano. Brian received his true baptism into the blues over the subsequent years as he studied songwriting and musical expression under Lawrence's tutelage.

With Lawrence's death in 2003, Brian carries on the tradition of the master with his debut CD release, now available in the summer of 2004. Mixing old and new, this work combines the traditional Austin rock/blues feel with a Kansas City swing to create a unique, driving sound with a taste of the contemporary. Showcasing both his drumming and guitar styles, this work contains 9 original tracks.
