ROCK: Folk Rock
Details:
EAR magazine: âA truly unique artist. His ability to mix and transform genres is a pure delight for the ears.â
All Music Guide: âBryan has engaging warmth in his voice. He sounds like a bluegrass singer and not some Buzzcock from the bay areaâ
Pop Culture Press: âThis could be one the years best CDs. âWork Songs of Loveâ is for music lovers. Serious lyrics. Serious guitar/dobro.â
Guitarnation.com: âThoughtful & introspective lyrics that thoroughly engage the listener. Jazz phrasings, bluegrass flatpicking, Dobro, blues, acrobatic rhythm guitar playing - Bryan does it all with a grace & fluidity that is pure poetry.â
Guitar Player magazine: "Bryan Clark has a jazz-funk sensibility akin to Hollywood studio cats like Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, and Steve Lukather. An understated composer with echoes of vintage Pat Metheny, Clark exploits space and timbre in his long, modally tinged, melodic passages."
Daily Texan: âBryan Clark is a rising star to watchâ¦. Carrying the torch for the new generation of Texas singer songwritersâ
Listen.Com: "Bryan's influences are wide ranging to say the least. Classical meets improvisation here with no genre (inc. rock and bluegrass) left unexplored."
A Texas native, Bryan began his professional career as the opening act for guitarist Larry Carlton.
Bryan has recently received critical acclaim for his songs by winning major awards in the 2004 MOVA international songwriting competition, the 2004 Great American Songwriting Competition, placing as a finalist in both the 2004 John Lennon Songwriting Competition and the 2004 Performing Songwriter Magazine contests. He also scored the feature length film âMushka Waterâ which has already won the Best Independent Film Award at the prestigious Hatch Festival in Bozeman, Montana and the film is scheduled for Sundance Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
His website (bryanclarkmusic.com) receives and average of 220,000 hits per year, over 90,000 downloads/streams, and generates CD sales in France, Germany, Africa, Netherlands, Australia and the US.
Bryan has performed with the Dixie Dreggs, Bonnie Raitt, Lisa Loeb, and jazz greats Larry Carlton, and Scott Henderson. He also was awarded the 2002-2003 Bonnie Raitt Endowed Scholarship and has performed in the Los Angeles Jazz Festival for the past three years. In addition to ESPN, his music has been featured on the History Channel, and the Food Network. Bryan has also been a featured performer on the Dallas Classical Guitar Society and Dallas Museum of Art concert series and has been received outstanding musicianship awards from IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators).
Bryanâs bluegrass quartet â Honeywagon â was signed a 4 album deal with CMH records. Their first 2 releases âGrass Stainsâ, âGreen Day, Blue Grassâ have received critical acclaim and the groupâs third CD âPaint it Blueâ is in stores now.
