Details:
Bruce McKinney studied composition with Earl Kim at Princeton and with Jack Beeson at Columbia University.
He has worked professionally as a trumpeter and a conductor. From 1974-2003 he was a member of the music faculty at Kingsborough Community College-CUNY where he developed Kingsborough's Music Technology program. During 1987-1989 he apprenticed in electronic music at the Brooklyn College Center for Computer Music under Charles Dodge, and in 1999 he returned to the center for a year as Composer in Residence. He is currently working on an extensive set of electronic settings of texts by the French surrealist poet André Breton.
