Details:
The Brisbanes are a four-piece rock band from the Kansas City-area who bring a variety of influences to their sound, one that is constantly evolving. A mixture of relaxed, sunset-drenched pop; attacking, sincere 70s punk; dance-floor funk; all mixed in with a modern sensibility and lyrics that people relate to.

The Brisbanes were formed in the sweltering summer of 2005, when the women were tan and the beer was cold. Formed from previous members of modern rock cover legends: Kage Fighters, and the indie scenesters supraluxxe, Green Means GO!, and Gun Company, The Brisbanes spent the next few months working out original material in the studio/ basement of their bass player, Jeff âLebowskiâ Cowan. In the short time The Brisbanes have played together, they have become a tightly-knit crew. Their love of playing, naturally translates to the stage.

The Banes currently belong to: Jeff Kinney, the lead singer, guitarist and head songwriter in which the band revolves around; the aforementioned Cowan, the consummate, steady bass player who brings a solid foundation and a blow-up sheep named Betty; Jake Gronbeck, a drummer whose funk influences provide a certain danceable groove to the music, and finally Chris Anderson, part of the twin guitars who counters the beat-oriented, melodic playing of Kinney with his own raw, Brit-fueled attack.

Over the course of two months in the late winter of 2006, The Brisbanes wrote and recorded their first full-length LP at Chapman Studios in downtown Kansas City. Titled âThis Is Not for Funâ, pointing out the trademark humor of the band, the album blasts out ten unique-yet-connected songs that mark a foundation for a band that is just beginning.
