This is taken from Erich Kleibers 1947 recording for Decca, he recorded the symphony again in 1951 and it is the latter recording that is usually re-issued. The Gramophone reviewer in December 1951 writes that the 78 presents his view of the Symphony in a more assertive and glaring light. Both versions, I admit at once, are good.
