Details:
Scott Boni is a jazz saxophone player, composer and arranger, currently residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A product of a musical and artistic upbringing, Scott has been performing since the age of seven. His earliest days as a performer were as a singer in various children's choirs and theater groups. In high school, Scott began playing the saxophone, and he attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts and was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. He also performed and visited England and France as a member of the Washington High School Steel Drum Band, and was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Berkeley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Berkeley, Scott was under the saxophone tutelage of saxophone greats including Andy McGhee, Dino Govoni, Dr. Shannon LeClaire, Billy Pierce, and George Garzone. Scott also studied under Ed Tomassi, Dave Samuels, and jazz educator legend Phil Wilson. He also performed in such Berkeley ensembles as the Berkeley Cedar Walton Ensemble, the Berkeley Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band, the Berkeley Art Blakey Ensemble, the Berkeley Recording Ensemble, Phil Wilson's Rainbow Big Band and Phil Wilson's Rainbow All Stars.

Scott's current CD is entitled "Mumphrey's Bounce" and features 10 compositions of which 4 are covers of classic jazz standards, such as "What?s New", and the remainders are original compositions. The Quartet features Scott Boni on Alto, Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Josh Wulff on Guitar, Paul Thompson on Acoustic Bass, and David Throckmorton on Drums. The quartet has been performing since May 2000, in and around the Pittsburgh, PA area. The quartet has performed at the 2001 Mellon Jazz Festival and won the 2001 Market Square Jazz Showcase, and was interviewed on WDUQ FM 90.5. Scott Boni has assembled a fine group of musicians, and the result is an eclectic fusion of music distinctively known as jazz.
