SERVICE RULES
1. Use gen uine Hon da o r Ho nda-reco m me nde d parts and lubric ant s or their eq uivalents. Part s that don't m eet Ho nda 's desig n specifications may cause damage to the motorcyc le. 2. Use the specia l too ls designed fo r t his product t o avoid da m age and inco rrect assembly. 3. Use only m et ric tools whe n serv icing the motorcycle. Metric bolts. nuts and sc rews are not interchangeable with Eng li sh

fasteners .
4. Install new gaskets , O-rings. cotte r pins, and lock plates whe n reassembling. 5. When tightening bolts or nut s, begin with t he larger diameter or inner bolt fi rst . T hen tighten to the specified torque diagonally in inc remental steps unless a particular sequence is specified. 6. Clean parts in clea ning solvent upon disassembly. Lubr icat e any sliding surfaces bef or e reasse mbly. 7. After reassembly, check all parts fo r proper in st all ation and o peration. 8. Rout e all elect ric al w ires as shown o n pages 1 ~ 22 through 1-32, Cable and Harn ess Routin g.

GENERAL INFORMATION

MODEL IDENTIFICATION

The Vehic le Identi fi cation Num ber (VIN) is located on the left side of the f rame near the steering head.

ENGINE SERIA L NUM BER
The engine serial number is stamped on the right side of the upper crankcase. Th e frame serial number is stamped on the rig ht side of the steering head.

THROTILE BODY IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

COLOR LA BEL

The throttle body identification number is stamped on the intake side of the throttle body as shown.

The color label is attached as shown. When ordering color-coded parts, always specify the designated

color code.
