Folky-Blues-Rock with deep lyrics.
14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, BLUES: Rockin' Blues
Details:
Raised in Illinois, and bored out of his mind, Todd Bogin began writing music and teaching himself guitar, bass, piano and harmonica, about three minutes after he started puberty. Of course all this industrious enterprise required plenty of inspiration, which he had in spades, thanks to the music of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bo Diddley, Hank Williams and local favorite Wilco. And thanks to a childhood spent overcoming partial deafness, a speech impediment, and a learning disability.
Okay. Are you depressed yet?
If not, keep reading.
Todd sharpened his skills in local bands throughout high school, until he made a life-changing decision. (âI am so outta here!â) Todd moved to New York in August 2005, arriving in Brooklyn two weeks after his twenty-second birthday. One scuzzy landlord, two insane roommates, and one busted carburetor later, his sometimes melancholy lyrics reflect the pain of his experiences, while his melodies and progressions balance them with a positive energy.
The Midwest Fables, Toddâs first full-length album of heartland-influenced songs, chronicles his journey. (the emotional kind; not the train-across-Ohio-and-Pennsylvania kind.) Blues undertones and an earthy style of vocal delivery draw the listener into Toddâs beautifully crafted, heart wrenching songs.
His backing band, The Klaymations, consist of the wonderfully talented Byrne Klay on bass and the ridiculously talented Hadley Tassinari on drums. Todd and his new band are making themselves at home in New York Cityâs best venues for original music. Realizing his vision by writing, performing and recording songs with universal themes, Todd Bogin brings a fresh perspective to a growing number of fans, delivering Midwestern-blues/folk-inspired rock in earnest with a raw unique voice.
