Beautifully played Applachian dulcimer instrumentals that show the versatility as well as the haunting sound of the Southern mountain instrument.
23 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, GOSPEL: Country Gospel
Details:
I was born a poor redneck child on a cotton mill village in the foothills of SC. I grew up listening to my family sing the ballads on the Old Country and the country music of the new. The old country is the British Isles . I loved music and sang for the public at the age of four.I began playing guitar at 15 and played rock and blues music as a bass player in bar bands and dance clubs. I fell in love with the folky sounds of Dylan , Arlo Guthrie and James Taylor and began doing solo acoustic work and left the electric world. I married into the dulcimer biz and got a fine singer in my wife, Melody. We opened a dulcimer /folk music shop in Helen , Ga in the summer of 1981 and worked it until 2001 and went full time performing and teaching. Over the years I have built 900 dulcimers and sold countless more. I also learned to play clawhammer banjo and became a world class teller of tall tales. Life's been mostly good with a measure of bad thrown in so you can tell when it's good and say" Damn ain't life good" ? My work is a reflection of my heritage and a life spent marching to the beat of a different plumber.
