HISTORY OF BOB INGLIS
Bob Inglis was discovered in the early 1970's.

âI was at the Sign Great House in Jamaica performing in the dinner show. Tony Sylvester, producer and singer with the vocal group The Main Ingredients, approached me and complimented my musical style.â

The Main Ingredients is well known for their hit Everybody Plays the Fool Sometime. At the time the song was number eight with a bullet headed for the number one hit in the country. Sylvester and family were at the dinner show celebrating the success of their song. Immediately, Sylvester recognized Inglis musical talent and invited him to join their band. Inglis first debut with The Main Ingredients was in August at Soul â73 opening for The Four Tops. Soul â73 was a black tie affair at the Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center. After this affair, the band also did a television special with Stevie Wonder, The Pointer Sisters, and Ashford and Simpson. During 1973-1974, Inglis also performed Christmas concerts with The Main Ingredients at the prestigious Apollo Theater .

In winter of 1974, Bob Inglis left the band and returned to Jamaica. Here he opened and performed at Jamaican night clubs. In the later 1970's Bob returned to his well cherished home, America. He played a benefit concert for the Performing Arts Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The event was a $1000 a plate dinner with well honored guests such as the Tennessee governor. From 1977-1983 Bob Inglis did numerous recording sessions in California and New York. He worked with such prestigious musicians as Carlos Alomar (Dream Generator), James Gadson, Ron Brown, and Willie Bobo. Alan Sides, Andy Heermans, Mervin Loque, Johnny Rosen, and Hank Sancola engineered the recordings. In the late 1980's Inglis performed in Oaxaca City, Mexico. He excited audiences with his unique music at the renowned jazz club Las Chalotes. From 1983-1996 Inglis traveled between Florida, the Bahamas, and Europe promoting his Black Eagle CD. Renowned recording engineer/producer Andy Heermans and Inglis co- produced Black Eagle. Black Eagle is a commentary on the Iran Contra Affair.

After a successful and active music career, Inglis retired in 1996. He moved to the quaint town of Melbourne Beach, Florida. Here he enjoyed his other loves-surfing the ocean waves and sailing his 36 foot trimaran. When he was not enjoying water sports, Inglis continued to enjoy his passion for music. He performed at the Florida Earth Day celebrations and the Surf Rider Foundationâs conventions. Inglis also enjoyed doing charity work. He played for severely handicapped children who did choreographed dances to his songs.

âThe children gave me the most pleasure. To see blind and disabled children enjoy my songs was a humbling experience. It was better than performing at the Apollo or any other stage. I can not put into words how thankful I am for my god given musical talent.â

In 2006 Bob Inglis came out of retirement. While visiting friends in Delray Beach, Florida, his sailboat was devastated by hurricane Wilma.

â I was all cozy and secure living on my trimaran. Mother Nature, my comforter, was now my adversary. Thankfully, I was unharmed; however my boat-- my home --was devastated. I was very impressed and thankful for the available FEMA relief. I know hurricane Wilma was a wake up call to take action and make my voice heard. I completed my long awaited CD/DVD Political Surfer including supporting vocals by well known artists such as the soulful Luther Vandross, and John Cheney. Political Surfer also features the European vocal group Mi-Oso-es-Mi-Kas. At the age of 59, I headed out on the highway to promote my music and messages. I hope through music I inspire other citizens to use their given right to have a voice; vote and let it be heard. Whatever your opinion, please feel free to send me comments at tucsonbob@gmail.com. I will respond as soon as possible. I hope you enjoy this website and my music.â
