Acoustic-based singer/songwriter stuff with well thought out lyrics and refreshingly unusual chord changes.
8 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, FOLK: Modern Folk
Details:
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Barry Waller has always had a penchant for combining opposites. He started his music career alternately playing bass in a Lynyrd Skynyrd/Grateful Dead cover band, while playing drums and collaborating on originals with Creem Magazine's Lester Bangs and Velvet Underground veteran John Cale. It is in this dual role of cover song troubadour and introspective songwriter that he continues to bring his music to his unsuspecting audiences.
After a successful year of touring wineries and theatres in his native Long Island, Barry brought his music to European audiences for the first time with a two-month residency in Copenhagen, and then Switzerland. He has also opened for national acts and made appearances on college radio and web radio shows. His "Ohio Plates" is the theme song to Tony Traguardo's successful "4F" series at Podarama.com (he gets a plug because he edited this bad boy for free).
Barry Wallerâs songwriting is nearly always motivated by some aspect of love, the single finest thing he believes us humans have stumbled upon. Set against befittingly sparse accompaniment and unusual chord changes, Barry's life-seasoned vocals deliver insightful, melancholy lyrics. His music will resonate with you as itâs all from
