The Blue State Band was started way back in 2004 when chicken picker Matt Walsh arrived from Nashville at the Brooklyn doorstep of singer Aaron Lisman. They agreed that Johnny Cash, et. al., were awesome and if they could just manage to make music that was one percentage point as good, then big things might happen. Or at least medium-sized things, in this day and age.

The Blue State Band is dedicated to making contemporary music that is beautiful and harmonious and sincere and intelligent. It sounds new, but it isn't newfangled, if you know what we mean. We hope you listen, buy it, and tell us what you think.
