Unlistenable lo-fi indie-art-rock. but fun.
16 MP3 Songs
POP: Quirky, ROCK: Punk
Details:
ART is the culmination of The Black Briansâ first three years as a band. Starting in high school, we've written hundreds of songs; these are seventeen of the best. Recorded in a basement on cheap equipment, these songs combine fuzzy guitars, bass, and sometimes keyboards with fuzzy vocals and a vintage drum machine.
Lo-fi but high-energy, the music is defiantly unmelodic â instead, you find the hooks in the manic shouting about zombies and astronauts. In one sense, itâs very punk-rock, but the Black Brians aim to please, and somehow the record isnât as abrasive as it sounds on paper. The songs run the gamut stylistically; highlights include the hard riffing of Zombies, the weird folk-rock of Gourmand, the punk-mysticism of Billyâs Song, and the bandâs hilarious yet tender butchering of the Goo Goo Dollsâ Iris. It's a manic mess, but in a good way.
