This vocal trio from Lincoln, Nebraska will take you on an entertaining musical journey through old familiar favorites, new songs, and their own original compositions. Baby Needs Shoes presents an energy filled fun program for all ages. Showcasing intertwining harmonies brought out in their a cappella music, along with their combined talents on instruments such as guitar, violin, flute, and piano, this trio of women have unlimited offerings.
Baby Needs Shoes offers programs featuring the music of the Andrews Sisters and also more contemporary programs including songs of history, songs for and about women and comedy songs. Baby Needs Shoes combines the solo careers of three midwest artists, each bringing a strong musical and performance background to this popular touring group.
Founding Baby Needs Shoes member, Terri Jo, is a songwriting competition winner and has released two solo CDs of her original contemporary folk music. Terri Jo has been nominated for Folk Artist of the Year by KZUM community radio in Lincoln, Nebraska for the past three years and has been on several nationally broadcast radio programs including Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour and River City Folk. Terri Jo was chosen to sing one of her original songs on a special holiday compilation produced for NPR in 2000 and hosted by Judy Collins.
Baby Needs Shoes member, Nancy Marshall,has been a popular jazz musician in the Lincoln/Omaha area for the past 25 years. Nancy performs with nationally renowned guitarist, Steve Hanson and released her debut solo jazz CD in 2002. Nancy is an accomplished pianist and is a teacher of piano and voice.
Baby Needs Shoes member, Melodee Landis, has an extensive performing background as a musician and an actor. Melodee is the group's story teller during the Andrews Sisters portion of their live show and adds her talents on the violin as the group demonstrates their versatility and style. Melodee also performs with the all women folk band, The Alligator String Choir.
Baby Needs Shoes is proud to be on the Nebraska Arts Council and Midwest Humanities rosters.
