Shawn Burgett has been writing songs for more than 20 years.
At this point, he's also gotten to record about 100 of them.
The "Best of - Vol.1" CD is a look at some of the highlights of
Burgett's writing career and, to put it simply, it's a great listen.
The compilation includes songs from the first 6 Burgett CDs.

Described as everything from "great for a long drive (or walk) in
the country" to "great makeout music" to "fun and danceable",
it's apparent right away that Shawn Burgett is a songwriter with
more focus on finding and following good songs than on the 'flash
and bling' of a lot of modern music. He touches on upbeat, fun and
sometimes silly topics just long enough to bring you to the next
deep thought or heartbreaking ballad.

With such diverse styles, almost everyone can find at least one
Burgett song to like. But people who like a mix of Rock, Blues,
Country and Folk will LOVE it all.

Beyond his own music, Burgett has played and produced on
everything from traditional songs with orchestral arrangements to
demo recordings for heavy metal bands and everything in between.
His awareness of many different genres and self taught abilty to
play several instruments seems to be the key. Although admittedly
'retro' in his own tastes, Burgett's musical scope covers alot of
ground and corresponds with alot of musical history. "I grew up
hearing bluegrass, country and gospel music." he remembers,
"Then I heard Elvis, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jim Croce, Dan
Fogelberg.... just so many great songwriters and performers...
I was blessed with a really great memory and I would just soak all
this stuff up and go try to learn it. I got like 40 or 50 years of really
great popular music in about 10 years!" You can certainly hear all
these influences in the music he writes and records.

Burgett also operates spreadyourhead.com , which showcases
some of the other artists he works with, and plays live shows, mostly
around Ohio. Most of his time is spent writing and recording new
songs at BurgettMusic, the small studio he runs.
