Fully explored and arranged tracks from a three-songwriter/musician cooperative.

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, COUNTRY: Country Rock

Details:
"Peppercorn Rent", the second full-length release from Pennsylvania singer/songwriter cooperative, Big Jack Earl, is a bit of a departure from their folk/bluegrass roots. The songs on "Peppercorn Rent" are fully orchestrated, fully realized versions of basic singer/songwriter tunes. They've allowed the songs to flesh themselves out in the studio, utilizing acoustic and electric guitar, upright bass, drums and percussion, Memphis slide, mandolin, harmonica, accordian, and richer vocal sounds.
Independently, Big Jack Earl's members have played from Florida to Maine to Nashville. So summing up the group's sound can't easily be done in one word. It tastes like bluegrass, folk, old-time country, jug band, and now, rock and roll, all combined into a style that it familiar, yet completely original.
"Peppercorn Rent" consists of original tracks written by all three members of the band - John Malone, Justin Parson, and Jerome Wincek - joined on percussion by David Perry. The songs reflect a normal passage of time in a small town. "We wanted to convey the sense of passage of time in normal life," says Parson. "But Lately" and "The Hard Way" are tracks that touch on this theme.
If you can identify with the emotions behind "Peppercorn Rent" or want to experience what the raw emotions of small town life are like, then give Big Jack Earl a listen. They'll be coming to a small town near you soon.
