A native of Lakeland, Tennessee, is an upcoming blues artist to watch, Ms.

Bertha Payne has paid her dues to get where she is today from dealing with

personal pressure, so call promoters and producers mainly because they didnât

know how to groom her talent wise or didnât take the time to develop her a style

and sound all her own. Bertha grew up singing the songs of her cousin KoKo

Taylor and by most part Memphis musicians are not into KoKo Taylor, so they

didnât play well and she didnât sing well so it all was a bad set. But with

everything against her and nothing for her, she kept going because of her love for

entertainment.

My understanding is she worked with several users who were more into personal

or financial gain rather than developing her as an Artist. Today Bertha Pane is

well polished and developed since being produce by Kim Melvin Kimmons a

former Memphis recording artist of HI records, she has a powerful blues soul

sound and a stage present that really highlight her as the artist she always was.

Today with her background singers Sweetbabi the three perform as a group

rarely found in the blues market of today. They entertain at best together. Their
