Details:
Dan Garofalo is a composer who plays guitar, piano, keyboards, and synthesizer. His musical compositions are a blend of bright upbeat jazz leads with symphonic orchestrations, punctuated by electronic rhythms. His musical inspiration comes largely from the visual world. âBeamsââ¦his first releaseâ¦highlights his clean sound created through acoustic and electronic instrumentation. The opening track begins with âKatanaâ or "Sword", inspired by the Samurai warriorsâ centuries ago in ancient Japan. âBeamsâ the title track is the sonic interpretation of the interplay of light and wood beams used as the artwork for this CD. âThoughtsâ is an introspective piano piece which summons personal patience with resolve. âSolsticeâ the closing track is where east-meets-west through harmonized guitar leads and orchestral strings.

At the age of twelve Dan was abruptly dismissed from formal piano lessons after only two months. The instructor insisted that Dan's musical skill was minimal and may be better suited for the guitar. Shortly thereafter, Dan bought his first guitar ($15) and two cassette decks. Determined to understand musical composition and sound recording, Dan continued to teach himself to play piano and guitar during his teenage years. In college he was secretly entered in a talent show by a friend, and given notice one night before the performance he went on to win the event with an original composition. To build on his musical experiences Dan enrolled in electronic music and recording classes. Dan's desire to create and perform original music has culminated into his own musical style, reflected in his first release "Beams."
