Details:
In her journey through life, both musical and personal, Beverley Worboys has become a singer of enormous versatility, with very few to match her innate sense of style and spine tingling vocal purity. Her lifelong love of folk music has been hugely influenced by her need to discover new things, new places, new people - the very things which lie at the heart of folk music.
Originally trained in opera, classical song and jazz at Londonâs prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, her journey since leaving there has taken her through starring roles in West End theatre, as well as on the international concert, opera and theatre stages. It was through her travels and experiences that led to Beverleyâs first studio album, Her Call, being released in 2002. This was a project created specially for her, a hauntingly atmospheric fusion of her musical passions, classical, jazz, and celtic. Having sold thousands of copies, she was asked to explore and develop further her own fusion style. The results are a stunning new album, only just released, containing an eclectic mix of songs, some old some new, some familiar, though rarely as we know them, but always with truth at their heart.
With inspiration as wide ranging as Robert Burns to Kate Bush, Beverley describes Songs to the Night Sky almost as a calling back to her musical roots, which takes us on a journey of exploration - the kind of journey we experience in much of the romantic and folk poetry of the 19th century - seeking solace in love, and never losing faith in it, even when hope seems futile. Her unique take on some of these songs, as well as in the original material, explores this path in a way very relevant to the troubled world of today, and shows us that there is hope in human nature, and in love. What we are left with is a work which is at its very core, lies truth.
