"INVISIBLE MAN" was always there, but you could not see him. There were times when he could be heard only faintly but now you can see and hear him clearly. That's me-Bevin Sinclair Turnbull-keyboards, acoustic piano, trumpet, percussion.
I was born in Harlem; raised in the Bronx from age 6. I survived the schools, thanks to my mom and dad, Helen and Dr. Rudolph Turnbull, who made sure I learned and did not get caught up in what increasingly surrounded us--dangers of the streets. I played Little League Baseball and in R&B/Jazz bands. These things kept me out of trouble.
I was a drummer in high school; pianist/trumpeter and composer by college at Howard University and by the time I finished my master's degree, I'd become a divorced father/producer/author/scholar, as well as the foremntioned.
At the moment I'm a doctoral student who's working as music department director at Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center; a teaching artist with Bronx Arts Ensemble and Executive Director of Bronx Renaissance Community Theater, which I founded in 2001.
I've written hundreds of musical pieces of many styles. I've authored a novel--"The Other Side of Tomorrow," which I plan to see made into a screenplay to which I write the film score.
Invisible Man is my latest release on CDbaby. Listen out for him. He will soon be audible as well as quite visible.
