Thank you for taking the time listen to our latest music project, âCaliforniaâ. A cd of 10 songs that range form classic post-modern British jangle to heavy blues to psychedelic tangents arrayed with big harmonies that lyrically express the longings and frustrations of the pursuit of the American dream in light of political propaganda from a pop culture and media hyped world out of control that never really explores the personal politics within our own souls.
The two writers Jeff Cole and Joe Robinson perform all the tracks with the help of engineer Joe Stout of Digital Dog Studios in Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, PA. Jeff Cole who now resides in the Atlanta metro section and Joe Robinson residing in the Philadelphia suburban area of Montgomery county both grew up in Levittown, PA a very blue-collar suburban neighborhood on Philadelphia. Jeff & Joe met in the late 80âs to form the group,âOctoverâ which remains together as another one of their musical outlets. The two have spent the last 15 years playing many of the clubs in the Philadelphia area with their group Octover and have released two full-length cds available on https://www.tradebit.com and https://www.tradebit.com.
The idea for the â88 Sundaysâ project came together after Jeff and Joe noticed a big change in their writing. Also lyrically they noticed that they were becoming more observant of the recent trends and frustrations not only of their own but other friends and family about the struggles of mainstream suburban American life. Not that we do not have all the material things we could ask for. It was something deeper. An emptiness that eluded us from our youth when we were more daring and had a pioneering spirit of big dreams and hopes. California has always represented the means to an end in that spirit in the psyche of American history. The need became great to present these visions and so in the summer of 2005 recording began and wrapped up in January of 2006. The â88 Sundaysâ represents the time it took to write and arrange all the material. It could just as well be called â88 weeksâ but the idea of a time of rest or âSabbathâ from the insanity appealed to the title of a musical venture of this nature to Jeff & Joe.
