Details:
Ayako Yonetani was born in Kobe, Japan, where, at the age of five, she began violin studies with the famous Saburo Sumi. At ten, Yonetani made her solo debut when she won the Japan National competition, in Tokyo. Later, she made her United States debut as concertmaster with the New York String Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Schneider.

Since that time, Yonetani has appeared frequently as a recital in major cities such as New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kosice. Recently, she performed with the New Tokyo Philharmonic, Orlando Philharmonic and the Slovak State Philharmonic of Kosice, and before that she appeared with the NHK (Japan's premier symphony), Gunma, Rio Hondo, Brevard, Okaloosa, and UCF Symphonies, as well as, the Chamber Orchestra of Zilina (Slovak Republic). In 2001 and 2002, Yonetani held the Isaac Stern endowed concertmaster chair of the Academy Orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival and School. In 2004, Yonetani was profiled in Marquis Who's Who in America.

Yonetani received her bachelor, masters, and doctoral degrees from the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang. Since 1989, Yonetani assisted the late Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard pre-college division and at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
Currently, Yonetani is an Associate Professor of Violin/Viola at the University of Central Florida, USA. She has taught as the Jay and Doris Christopher endowed string chair at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival since 2002. She also continues to play with Japan's Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo.
