Details:
Thirty-two year old guitarist/bassist/drummer Adam Rich has just released You Canât Escape Life, his second CD on Love Muffin Records. Half instrumental guitar work and half songs containing vocals, the influences of Joe Satriani, Michael Fath, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse and Kirk Hammett burst through on the CDâs 10 tracks. Adam explores a wide array of styles, covering rock, pop, punk, reggae, ska and jazz, all with a guitar-driven base. âPerfectâ is melodic punk reminiscent of Social Distortion, while the title track âYou Canât Escape Lifeâ brings Ben Harper to mind. âWhirling Dirvishâ and âBig Blueâ are clearly inspired by Joe Satriani, and âGo Away Mr. Telemarketerâ combines reggae and punk in the manner of Reel Big Fish. Adam worked closely with long time friend Jared Levengood of Crème Deluxe Studios, who produced, engineered, and mixed the CD, as well as contributing some songs. Vocals are provided by several guests including local favorite Alex âXelaâ Alvarez, Pacemaker Janeâs Brian May, The Atomic Crashâs Derek DePrator, and Andy Elias.
Adam began his musical journey on drums at 15, guitar at 16 and bass at 21. He developed a stutter at a young age, and found music as an additional way to express himself. Adam has been in bands since he was 18, starting out on guitar in his senior year of high school. During his college years, Adam released a couple of cassettes. Upon college graduation in mid 1998, he moved back to Cleveland and planned to release a CD of his own songs. In 2002, Foundation was released on his own Love Muffin record label. Love Muffin was started in 1994 as a vanity label to self-release his cassettes.
Adam played bass in State Of Green while in college (1994-1997), Tadpol (1998-2001) and Girth (2002-2006)
