Taurus Smith AKA Atonement

Born in 1978 on the south side of Chicago IL. He is the son of Laura and Sam Smith and the youngest of three brothers and sisters. Taurus lived a very difficult and challenging life, being diagnosed with chronicle glaucoma at the age of 6 months. Losing his sight at the age of 10 Taurus experienced much discrimination, sympathy and very little understanding from society. It was at the age of 13 when things seemed to begin to turn around for Taurus, this is when he discovered writing rhymes. As he would rap about sex, money and drugs it seemed to get him popularity with the guys and impressed the girls. But this was just a small population and it didnât compare with the mass of people that didnât know that he could rap or didnât care and treated him as if he was helpless or retarded. This is what bothers Taurus the most because it is like he always has something to prove. Looking for acceptance at the age of 16 he began to live the party life that he often rapped about in his songs. Living his life in the fast lane Taurus felt that he was really getting somewhere. Taurus says âI know that it was God with me and protecting me many nights even while I was doing wrong.â For 5 years Taurus lived his life this way and despite of all the things that was going against him, he managed to graduate from Columbia College in Chicago. At the age of 22 Taurus came to the conclusion that it was time for a change. Taurus says â it was like I couldnât write raps with profanity or obscene lyrics without feeling conviction, and that is when I knew that it was time to give it all up. Now I knew that this day would come but I always thought that I would be older.â Taurus now has devoted his life to God and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ threw his hip/hop lyrics, and as he grew in age, wisdom and in God the lord began to reveal many things unto Taurus. The Lord spoke to him and said that he was going to be a blessing and a walking testimony for many. The Lord also told Taurus threw prophecy that he was going to be a young deliverer for God and going to bring many of the youth out of bondage with the music that God has giving him, and this is when Atonement was born. Atonement is an act of reconciliation between God, man and music threw hip/hop lyrics lased with the blood of the lamb and the saving knowledge of Christ, and heâs come to take things back to its original form the way God intended it to be. Atonement has written, produced and recorded many songs down through the years that has inspired and uplifted many believers and unbelievers both young and old and this is one of the many visions of Atonement. Atonementâs purpose in life is to preach and teach the truth, reach and riley the youth with the faithful sayings and doctrine of Christ that no man may go without hearing the word of God. So at the age of 27 Atonement owns and runs his own record label âCHRISTIAN/ CUT/ RECORDSâ so that his vision may not be lost in the vision of a major label.
