Andy is confronted by his past when he receives a letter from an ex-con that he shot in the leg during a gas station robbery. The ex-con states that he is coming to Mayberry to set things straight. Barney assumes that he is coming to town to gun Andy down for revenge. Andys not sure what to think and is nervous but doesnt what to think the worst. Since Andy wont take it seriously, Barney takes things into his own hands.
