Hoss comes to the rescue of an old timer Charlie Trent and finds out that he once was a scout for the Army. It just so happens that Captain Pender needs a Scout to lead his men and a shippment of gold across the desert, a very dangerous journey and knowledge of the Water Holes scattered along the way is important to their sucessful crossing. Charlie takes the job along with Hoss and the troops across the desert.
