Details:
1. HAWAII CALLS â Na Hokupa (Harry Owens) 3:28
Na Hokupa, using close, multi-part harmony, brings this timeless classic to life. The group has been performing since 1987. They can be seen at various island locations including âNa Mele Nei.â Visit Na Hokupaâs website for details. âHawaii Callsâ reminds us to âdream awhile of the happy days we knew.â Thatâs what all of us whoâve been to Hawaii will do; we DREAM about our days in the sun, and yes, Hawaii does call us again and again.

2. KONA DAZE â Dennis Pavao (Malani Bilyeu) 4:21
Dennis Pavao is known as one of Hawaiiâs âgolden voices.â He has been voted âmale vocalist of the yearâ multiple times and continues, through his recordings, to be one of Hawaiiâs great vocal treasures. From the early â70s until 1978 Dennis recorded many albums with Hui Ohana. This rendition of the song âKona Dazeâ was recorded in 1994 with Kalapanaâs D.J. Pratt on guitar. www.tropicalmusichawaii.com

3. KAMALANI â Leilani Rivera Bond (Larry Rivera) 3:36
Leilani Rivera Bond is a kumu hula (hula teacher and dancer) who was born and raised on the island of Kauaâi. In her hula classes, she shares her love of Hawaiian culture and she really enjoys performing with her students. âKamalaniâ was written by Leilaniâs father, Larry Rivera, who also recorded the song. The selection is dedicated by Leilani to her first-born daughter, Kamalani. The translation of the title of her album is, âThe Works of Love.â

4. TURTLE BAY RUM â Kaâala (Anela Kahiamoe) 3:22
Kaâala, a duo consisting of Franny Villareal & Anela Kahiamoe, were performing in the lobby bar of the Turtle Bay Resort. They had a very pleasing laid-back style and so we stopped to listen. We liked their sound and said, âSomeday weâll do something with you folks.â Well, today is the day! As you listen, pretend youâre joining us on a warm Hawaiian evening wearing a flower lei and sipping on âTurtle Bay Rum.â

5. MAUI, YOUâRE ON MY MIND â The Country Knights Band (Melia/Shafer/Loney/Andrews) 2:55
The Country Knights Band (Rob Loney, Jon Melia & Herb Andrews) have a unique, contemporary paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) sound. They live and work on âThe Valley Isleâ of Maui, so itâs natural that they would sing a tune about âhome.â This song is requested many times each week by folks who long to be where the Knights live, the island of Maui. www.thecountryknightsband.com

6. WAIMEA â Cory Oliveros (Aaron Kimura) 4:06
Cory Oliveros can be seen and heard performing in and around Honolulu. This song, from his first solo project, features Wayne Wakai on alto sax and has a very contemporary groove as he sings the praises of Waimeaâs harmony with nature, the sand and the sea. Should you run into Cory performing in Waikiki, tell him you heard him on âA Time for Aloha.â www.islandgroove.com

7. IN A LITTLE HULA HEAVEN â Teresa Bright (Leo Robin, Ralph Rainger) 4:00
Teresa Brightâs rendition of âIn a Little Hula Heavenâ is a âclassic.â Teresa recorded it on her 1990 âSelf Portraitâ release and her version receives requests every week. The steel guitar solo features another Hawaiian legend, Eddie Palama. Teresa has won awards as a composer, producer and vocalist. www.tropicalmusichawaii.com

8. UKULELE BOOGIE â Brittni Paiva (Brittni Paiva) 2:14
Brittni Paiva is a very talented young lady from Hilo, Hawaii who began recording in early 2005 at age 15. Brittni won a Na Hoku Hanohano Award as the âmost promising artist of the yearâ (2005) for her first album, âBrittni X 3.â The â3â refers to the fact that she played bass, slack key guitar and ukulele on the album. This song is from her second album titled, âHEAR...â It features Wendell Ching on drums, and Brittni on everything else. www.brittnipaiva.com

9. MOLOKAâI HOE â Na Kama Hele (Peter Apo) 3:01
Na Kama Hele combines both Hawaiians and âHawaiians at heartâ on this island chart-topper. Peter Apoâs mele (song) tells the story of one of Hawaiiâs great canoe races which starts on the island of Molokaâi and finishes some 41 miles away on the island of Oahu. www.nakamahele.com

10. MY HAWAII â Scott Katsura (Scott Katsura) 4:51
Scott Katsura sings âNo words can describe whatâs felt in my heart.â This updated version of âMy Hawaiiâ was taken from his award-winning album, âAloha Miles Awayâ which won the Hawaii Music Award (2005, Pop Album of the Year). Scottâs smooth vocal style is contemporary and traditional at the same time. www.scottkatsura.com

11. ISLAND DAYS â PALI (Pali Tuan W. Kaâaihue) 3:59
PALI is an award-winning group that performs all over Hawaii. They were awarded a Hawaii Music Award (2005, Contemporary Album of the Year) for their album, âIn Harmony.â The introduction to this original mele (song) is performed by slack key guitar master, John Keawe, who continues to provide a solid backing for PALI as they tell us about Island Days. www.pali.net
