Details:
If there was only one word that could be written about "Autopsy of a Living Specimen", it would have to be EXHAUSTING. The album that would take over two years to complete was the brain child of Jason Frerking, a stand-out voice and producer of former hip hop collectives Tha OCT'z, Kaotic Krew, and Endless Faith. This project, the most personal pieces he had ever written, began in summer of 2003. With multiple songs penned by winter, a makeshift band was put together among friends. One would perform drums in his garage while another hashed out guitar riffs in a small bedroom studio. Jason would be there to share his vision with both, but the three never met in one place at once. With drums and guitars completed, long nights burned away as Jason pieced together every analog and digital instrument he saw fit to make each song precisely what he imagined. This process stretched over a year. Vocals were recorded and re-recorded throughout that period and continued all the way up until the winter of 2005. Some songs took entire years before choruses sounded just right. Songs were tossed out. Songs were re-written. In the end, 10 tracks stood as the completed album that would define the life of Another Lost Soul for two and a half years. "Autopsy of a Living Specimen" is a live-instrument hip hop album with rock sounds, true school foundations, electronic buzzes, and emotional lyrics that stands as a genre all unto itself. While influenced by so many different styles and musicians, A.L.S. proves that he is an original with this compilation of compositions so heartfelt you would swear you were reading his diary.
