Autonomous is a modern rock outfit led by pianist, vocalist, and drummer John Stout. Inspired by a broad spectrum of musical styles, John's infectious melodies and thoughtful lyrics blend opposing genres into an "Eclectic Pop." . Two key elements of the sound are groove and motion, creating a deep pocket you can bob your head to while leading you places you wouldn't expect. His influences, though not immediately apparent, make sense when you hear them. Some of his favorites are Peter Gabriel, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Soul Coughing, Sypro Gyro, Bruce Hornsby, Faith No More, Sting and many more.
Although this is John's first solo adventure, he's no stranger to the touring circuit. During his career he has opened up for or played with Cracker, Vertical Horizon, Cowboy Mouth, Edwin McCain, Hootie and the Blowfish and others, traveling all over the United States.
It's in Autonomous where John's true creative voice is finally heard, and he's happy to take the reigns. His goal is to reach an audience that deeply loves music and give them something they can make their own. Currently, Autonomous is building a strong following in the Southeastern US, and touring in support of their new album "No One's Listening."
