For the past few years, public musical activity has slowed down quite a bit for Drew (as you may have noticed). It¹s been an intentional break as he has been enjoying the addition of his new son to the family. Once a good amount of personal investment was achieved - he created some space to write again.
During the summer of 2006, he was approached with a fresh opportunity - to come up with original music for the stage adaptation of the best selling book by author, Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz. As he explored this new expression of writing some of his strongest work to date began to surface. This resulted in the the quick (literally over a weekend of recording) turnaround of his latest album, Swirling. The first five songs on the record have and will be featured in the world premier of the play, Blue Like Jazz. The remaining songs are mixtures of new and old songs, newly recorded by producer, Paul Dexter.
The Players on the record include: Scott Boureston (drums/percussion), Tom Pollard (bass), Dave Martyn (woodwinds), Paul Dexter (pads and mood), Molly Jenson (vocals).
