Description:

(ID 953914)
Lynn's debut is an impressive first offering. Her songs are intimate and infectious, spanning the genres of roots/pop and folk/rock. No wonder her songs are being covered by major New Orleans artists.

10 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop

Details:
"Speaking of Drury, I got into her voice like a leather-upholstered bar booth. She sounds like a sultrier, smokier Bonnie Raitt, infusing a cathartic world-weary woe and wisdom into every line that's worth the price of the album, if you ask me."

Laura Miller, Offbeat Magazine

" She (Drury) possesses the coffeehouse drawl of Rickie Lee Jones, the sly wink of Bonnie Raitt, the maternalistic glow of Natalie Merchant, and the sheer languid beauty of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval. Never have they all been in better voice."
R. Fontenot, Offbeat Magazine

Originally from Mississippi, Lynn Drury has become a fixture in the New Orleans music scene in the past few years. She performs regularly at many downtown venues and has been a featured songwriter at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 4 years running. She was recently awarded "Best Emerging Artist" in 2004 by Offbeat Magazine.

"Crossing Frequencies" the first record of all orignal material, was released in April 2001 and showcases Lynn's talent at crafting songs that cross genres.

"Blackberry Winter/01, was released in April 2002, and has garnered well-deserved local recognition. Recorded by Mike West at the Ninth Ward Pickin' Parlor, this album was done completely live in the studio and showcases the band's movement toward a rustic and ethereal sound.

The latest offering, "Spun," was released in April 2003. It was recorded by Mark Bingham at Piety Street Recording, New Orleans, LA, with backing band "Bad Mayo." This record is a collaborative writing effort between Drury and Dave Stover with songs that range from melancoly to manic, yet still maintaining a cohesive "sound." It was voted one of the top 50 albums of 2003 by Offbeat Magazine.

Lynn's music is in regular rotation on local radio stations such as WWOZ, WTUL, and also on out-of-town stations like WAIF in Cincinnati, Ohio and KWMR in Point Reyes, CA.

Currently, Lynn has new band and is finishing up an EP of 5 original songs which will be out in April 2005. A full length recording is in the works.

The players are:

Brian "the Siege" Seeger - Lead Guitar
Cass "the touch" Faulconer - Bass
Chris "picante" Pylant- drums
