What a great story!
After a career working with many of the greatest acts in rock history, Dallas Doctor released his debut solo album on January 1, 2010.
It was worth the wait.
Dallas is an interesting guy. As a teenager, he performed as a lead singer with "The Sounds of Freedom" who toured nationally and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. In his early 20's, he toured internationally with Dick Clark Concerts act "The Family Waye," and worked with radio sensation Jonathan Brandmeier as a song-writer, guitarist & founding member of "Johnny & the Leisure Suits."
While still in his 20s, Dallas designed, built, managed, and worked as an engineer in recording studios in Phoenix, San Diego, Key West, and Atlanta. He lent his talents as both a musician and engineer to a great many legendary acts including The Beach Boys, Hall & Oates, Three Dog Night, and a great many others.
In addition to working as a both a studio and for-hire side musician, Dallas also honed his songwriting skills penning radio jingles for stations throughout the country, including KTLA, Los Angeles; KDKB, Phoenix; KZZP, Mesa; WLUP, Chicago; 99X, Atlanta; to name a few.
During the late-90s, Dallas went back on the road and toured as lead guitarist with Dennis Yost & The Classics IV (Spooky, Stormy, Traces, et cetera), while also serving as VP of A&R for Centennial Records.
Additionally, Dallas is a Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude graduate of Arizona State University, where he studied chemistry and social psychology. After graduation, he formed the independent record label "Dangerous Records" (later, Centennial Records), and in December of 2009, Dallas officially qualified to run the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:42:28 for 26.2 miles - we told you he's not like the other guys!
Dallas now lives in New York City, and is the founder and director of UpWithScience.Org - a non-profit effort to inspire boys and girls to value math & science education through song.
The release of Dallas Doctor's debut solo album - Manhattan - is the culmination of a lifetime spent studying songwriting. The results speak for themselves: these are great songs!
THE BAND
Dallas has carefully selected some of the most talented players on the planet. Together, they present a compelling and powerful force on stage.
These skilled musicians are not kids making noise - they are accomplished professionals who have managed to hang onto their youthful exuberance and passion for performing. Not only are they a master of their own instrument, each member of the band is an accomplished singer and entertainer.
The live vocal harmonies are astonishing, and the performances are as powerful as they are memorable.
