This was our most challenging effort to date, as we were just learning the recording equipment, and the overall mood in the begining was elusive. As for the writing aspect, I knew that I wanted a dark album, and I knew from our first three cds (out of print at this time) that while we had opera singing friends available, there's still our art to consider with this band. That's where Augy and our homemade studio started to work. I still wonder how, with our minimal gear, he's able to pull off some of the recording magic. I think that we were able to capture all of the different ideas, all of the art and all of the weird. This cd has a certain timelessness to it -- moments of frailty, moments that are almost diabolical -- sometimes in the same moment. It sounds a lot like home.
