Details:
Dom Italiano is a singer/songwriter/guitarist on a mission to drag the reputation of the modern songwriter out its shell and into your ears with laughter, tears, chocolate and beers.

Crafting songs with simple, catchy melodies, complex guitar parts and insightful, often quirky lyrics, Dom is able to transport the listener to a place where hope springs from hopelessness and peace comes from knowing that we all look silly when we think weâre pulling our sexy faceâ¦

Receiving his first guitar for his 12th birthday as a more constructive alternative to a skateboard, Dom spent the next few years poring over guitar magazines and his parentâs record collection in a bid to retain a sense of sanity as a teenager living in the small country town of Teesdale, 30 minutes from Geelong.

During high school Dom won numerous awards in local school talents contests as a member of Black Rain. Moving to Melbourne at 18, Dom studied classical guitar at the Melbourne Conservatorium before enrolling in a contemporary music course at Box Hill Institute in 1998.

Dom met Steve Virgona (bass) and Richie Jarvis (drums) at Box Hill Institute, with whom he recorded 241 Dead End in 1999 .

In 2000, Dom met Matthew Robinson and with the addition of Steve, Richie and Matt Bradshaw later that year, formed insidezero, a pop/rock act that showcases each individualâs unique songwriting voices and pop sensibilities. Described as a band who create â⦠a refined pop/rock style that would have Taxiride and Space Like Alice enviousâ by FORTE Magazine, insidezero will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the Australian music scene in the near future. insidezero have relased 2 CDs to date.

As insidezero progressed, the urge to create music often yielded songs that werenât particularly suited to the bandâs pop/rock style. And thus, the seeds for a solo project were sewn.

In 2004 Dom released Part 1: I guess youâve gotta start somewhere⦠The album is a stripped back acoustic recording based around one voice and one acoustic guitar and showcases Domâs talents as a poetic lyricist, articulate composer and nimble guitarist with a unique, well developed style.

December 2005 saw the release of Raising Revenue: Busking CD 2005, a 13 track collection of 8 new songs and a handful of tracks taken from previous releases.

Modelling himself on revered songwriters such as Paul Simon, James Taylor, Rick Price and Billy Joel, Domâs songs are often character driven and based around identifying the small but significant moments in every-day situations.

The journey through a Dom Italiano song follows an arc that is comparable to the growth of perspective that you would experience throughout the life of a relationship or even the beginning to the end of a day.

The past 2 years have seen Dom develop significantly as a live performer, appearing at major venues all over Victoria including the 2005 Port Fairy Folk Festival, 2005 Frankston Guitar Festival and as a finalist in the Port Fairy Songwriting Competition and 2005 PBS Festival of Song.

A sharp, witty and playful live performer, Dom is rapidly connecting with an ever growing, like-minded audience. Get down to a show and witness this unique artist in his natural habitat.
