ROCK: Classic Rock, ROCK: 80's Rock
Details:
Double Axel has been around. Around the North Country, around the Tri-Lakes area, around the Thousand islands, around New York State, around Massachusetts and Vermont. In fact, they've been around for over thirty five years playing their unique brand of vocal-oriented rock and roll. Members of the group are: Rob Zolner (guitar and vocals) and Alex Vangellow (drums, keyboard, vocals) of Potsdam and Frank Johns (bass and vocals) of Saranac Lake. Alex, Frank and Rob performed their first gig as Double Axel in Saranac Lake in 1971. Over the years the band has played at thousands of nightclubs, parties and proms throughout the North Country as well as numerous high school and college reunions. Double Axel annual favorites include the Potsdam Summer Festival/Alumni Weekend and Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. A highlight of the groupâs career includes playing on the ice for all of the international athletes at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid.
Three years in the making, Double Axel has just released a full length CD of all new original songs. The recording is true to the Double Axel style and is based on Frank's quirky lyrics, Rob's guitar and production/engineering skills and Alex's lead vocals.
Tapping their rock 'n roll and R&B roots, Double Axel performs classic hits of the past and present--but only those you can dance to...when Double Axel performs, you can't sit still! Check the bandâs website "http://www.doubleaxel.com" for their performance schedule, history, pictures and updates.
