Details:
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, David has been writing songs since age 13, at age 16 he was featured in a radio interview about his songwriting and had already performed for a crowd of over 7,000 people, he became a published poet at age 18 and over the years has become recognized as an exceptional songwriter. This CD, TWO HANDS ARE ENOUGH contains an incredible twenty original songs written by David. These songs span from his days in high school, through his undergraduate years at Elon College, graduate school at Old Dominion University to the present time of 1997.

As David explains, "The irony of Two Hands is that the project was simply a 'cleaning of the closet' of a bunch of songs I had written but not recorded. I felt in order to 'move on' to better songs I needed to get these songs recorded and out of the way, Which was the sole purpose of this project. I did not expect any recognition for this particular CD and was overwhelmed when all of a sudden I was receiving many positive reviews of the disc. I have always been very critical of my own songwriting, the reviews and positive statements about my songs and songwriting on Two Hands Are Enough, let me know that maybe I had finally hit a point in my songwriting where I personally could say, 'maybe, I am finally at a decent point in my talents as a songwriter.' Even after the disc having been out for six years I still have people tell me that they heard one of the songs on the radio recently. I feel very fortunate to be recognized for an aspect of who I am in such a positive, public way."

Quotes from reviews of Two Hands Are Enough:

"If Virginia Beach were to name a songwriter laureate, no doubt it would be homegrown David Carter."
Victoria Hecht, Editor, Virginia Beach Sun Newspaper

"Youthful and simple, Carter is a storyteller... his autobiographical lyrics show the common ground many of us share."
Eric Worden, Port Folio Weekly

"If every entity or area needs a spokesperson, David Carter would be a prime candidate for Virginia Beach. The entire disc has a local flavor to it with references to the 15th street fishing pier, Ocean Eddie's and having the girl of your dreams on the handle bar of your beach cruiser."
Jack W. Waddell, Flash Magazine

"I played it at home and as soon as Carter's rich, lyrical voice began, it was like a night out on Colley Avenue, or perhaps sitting on an ocean front deck watching the waves roll in."
Sam Martinette, Norfolk Compass Newspaper

"Singer-songwriter David Carter is one of the friendliest, most laid-back people in the Hampton Roads music community. Whether he's singing confessional heart break mode or engaging in Buffett style breeziness, Carter makes enjoyable music."
Sam MacDonald, Daily Press Newspaper

"Maybe She's Right,' 'Cucumber Cucumber Boat,' 'Fish,' 'Champagne, 'Somewhere Under This Moon' and others read like pages from his life. They all tell a tale of places he's been, people he's known and emotions he's felt."
Jaqueline Ross, Richmond Music Journal
