Details:
Singers and guitar players are a dime a dozen - or so they say. Laurie Dameron's performances are an exception - they reflect a broad range of creative experiences accumulated since early childhood.

Starting at age four one the piano, Laurie was self-taught one the guitar and became proficient by age eight. From then on she was performing for any audience she could find. While attending Adams State College, she attained a minor in music. She toured with ASC Big Band Jazz Ensemble, twice participating in the Annual Greeley Jazz Festival where she impressed jazz virtuoso Johnny Smith enough to receive free lessons. During this time Laurie created the ASC Open Stage and as an emcee she developed a unique rapport with her audience and fellow performers. This gave her plenty of solo time as well as collaborating with others and played a role in formation of her first band.

More recently Laurie played with Denver's jazz big band, Moodswing, whose variety of gigs included down town Denver Westin Hotel. She later helped found the one of the finest women's R&B band, Sister Swing who had the honor of playing closing night at Denver's 23 Parish and put on a three hour concert at the Trojan Theatre as part of the 1992 Longmont Jazz Festival where some of Laurie's compositions were debuted.

Laurie's diverse styles from folk, pop, country, blues and jazz, allow her to play colleges, nightclubs, weddings and special events. Involving the audience in such things as Karoke, with Laurie as the back-up, is a top priority and the occasional use of accompaniment tapes arranged and performed by Laurie maintains an element of intrigue. With a unique sense of humor and wide musical influences from Duke Ellington to the Grateful Dead, Laurie relates well to any audience.
