The debut album from the Minneapolis singer/songwriter Danny Jack includes a 50/50 mix of catchy pop lyrics and melodies forcing one to tap their toes as well as somber acoustic ballads that pull at the heartstrings.
11 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop, FOLK: Modern Folk
Details:
In 1979, I was born into a large Italian family in Northeast Minneapolis. My family has always been very supportive and important to me. With an upbringing that included a mix of city and country life, I believe it shaped who I am musically today.
I started playing guitar at age 14. At that time, the Seattle grunge sound was taking over. The opening riff to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single handedly got me hooked and I haven't put the guitar down since. As I've matured, I believe I have found my own unique and natural sound.
As my musical tastes have broadened, I can attribute the following classic artists as giant influences on me: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, John Lennon, The Kinks, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel, Van Morrison, Elton John, Bob Marley and Bruce Springsteen. As far as more modern day influences go, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Weezer, Radiohead, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guster, Jack Johnson, The Shins, The Jayhawks, Ween, Mason Jennings, Elliott Smith, and Ben Folds would top the list.
