Dushyanthi, the hot new artist from NYC, is creating a unique music sensation. Dushyanthiâs debut video âMany Menâ has secured the # 2 spot on the MTV Desi countdown and is # 4 and climbing on the MTV Tempo Cross-Caribbean countdown. In August, Dushyanthi will VJ a Top Ten of âMy Favorite Videosâ which will air on MTV Desi, MTV Tempo and MTV Espanol. The success of the video, which was shot independently, is attributed purely to the infectious music and her unstoppable drive.
âMy music is urban-pop with some reggaeton and Indian influences.â Dushyanthi teamed up with producer Mark Wilson (Destinyâs Child, Will Smith, Brandy) and co-wrote every song with Wanda Lewis and Tre and LA (Tamia, Christina Milian).
Dushyanthi has been working the stages to sold out crowds in NYC, Philly, Boston, and performed at the Mount Lavinia Hotel in Sri Lanka on New Yearâs Eve. She was also featured in HOT 97âs new artist showcase at SOBâs.
From the age of 12, Dushyanthi trained intensively in vocal and dance classes. âI love to dance- hip-hop, belly dancing, Indian, salsa- I love all of it.â She dedicated herself to an intensive program in acting and musical theater at the Boston Conservatory. Dushyanthi graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a major in Psychology and a double minor in Womenâs Studies and Spanish.
Back in NYC, Dushyanthi was approached by several top modeling agencies while working as an inner city youth counselor in SoHo. She quickly found modeling and acting success with jobs including Savoy magazine, FOX, Redken, and Sex in the City.
Dushyanthi has recently been working with hit-maker Josh Thompson, producer to Alicia Keys, Tyrese, and Joe. She is currently fielding offers from record labels, doing magazine and radio interviews throughout the world and as always, working on new music.
