ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
San Francisco singer/songwriter Greg Dunkailo (dun-kye-lo) is a Kentucky native turned Californian, bringing with him a touch of middle-American Rock straight from the rust-belt.
Greg was raised in Newport, Kentucky, a former industrial city across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. Roaming the streets of a working-class neighborhood, Greg gained first-hand knowledge of the highs and lows of blue-collar life. He credits his upbringing for his strong work-ethic and optimistic writing style. "I've seen a lot of hard times fall on my family and friends growing up" explains Greg "we had to work twice as hard as the next guy to create a better situation and to do that we had to focus on the positives."
From a career that began playing in small biker bars, Greg's work has progressed to include co-writing and producing the pop-punk soundtrack for the short film entitled "Barry" in 1997. In 1998 Greg co-founded the Creative Music Alliance of Cincinnati (CMAC) successfully spearheading a movement to promote Greater Cincinnati songwriters to higher profile clubs with better pay.
Following the success of CMAC Greg worked with national and international recording artists in a promotion and management team role leading him to relocate to San Francisco, CA in 2002. Since then, Greg has been turning his songs onto new fans by performing on stage and in cafes around the bay area.
